WATER DAY!!!

We will be having a water day on our last day of school, Thursday, June 3, 2010!!! We will be outside starting around 9:15 and 1:15 and will be playing in swimming pools, sprinklers and slip and slides! We will also have snacks and games to play. It will be a lot of fun!
Your child will need to bring a towel, sunscreen and underwear. Have your child come to school with their bathing suit on under their clothes and sunscreen already applied. We will change your child into their dry clothes before they go home.
Our rainy day plan (hopefully we won’t need this!) is to still have water day on this day but it will be inside! If you would like to send in snacks, juice boxes, etc. please let me know. Join us if you can. We will be combined with another class and because of the limited space we are asking that siblings do not attend.

Kindergarten Registration

IF your child is enrolled in preschool at the Early Learning Village you DO NOT need to come to the kindergarten registration. Kindergarten registration is only for children not yet enrolled in school. If your child is in preschool at the Village, they will be registered/screened through their preschool classroom. We wanted to let everyone know that this will be our student teacher, Ms. Brianna's last week. She has done a great job and we will miss her! It is also Ms. Sarah's last week in our classroom. Ms. Tammy will be returning next week. We are very excited to have Ms. Tammy back! We will miss Ms. Sarah, but hope to see her subbing around school : )

Family Project

Dear Families,
Here is a family project for the whole family to work on. We will be tracing your child's body on a piece of paper and sending it home. Your family’s assignment is to decorate it however you want and bring it back to school for us to display. You can be as creative as you want and the most important part is to have fun!

Valentine's Day Party Details

We will be having a Valentine’s Day party on Friday, February 12, 2010 at 10:15 for the a.m. and 2:15 for the p.m. We would love for you to come and spend some time with us! We will pass out Valentine cards for the children. We ask that you have your child sign his/her name and leave who it is for blank. (This will make it easier to pass out!) There are 20 children in both the morning and afternoon sessions.
During the party we will have Valentine’s Day workshops! We are going to be decorating sugar cookies, filling up goody bags and passing out Valentine’s cards. We need a few items for these workshops. If you would like to send in any of these items please let us know. Some of the items we need are: plain sugar cookies, icing, sprinkles, plastic knives, paper products, juice, items for goody bags such as individual wrapped candy, party favors, pencils, erasers, stickers, etc. Please bring these items in by Thursday, Feb. 11. Thank you for all of your help and support! Please fill out the form sent home in your child's backpack and return to school.

About our Week: Welcome Back!!! We hope everyone had a wonderful winter break. I don’t know about you all, but I am looking forward to getting back into a routine! For the next few weeks we are going to concentrate on winter. We will be working on concepts such as patterning, cutting, shape recognition, and writing. We had great Christmas parties in both classes today! The children rotated between 3 tables. They had snacks at one table, made magic reindeer food at another and made an ornament at the last table. They enjoyed it very much. The afternoon class was able to see Santa yesterday and he came by to see our morning friends today. It was so exciting for the children! Welcome to Mrs. Manning's Class!

Welcome to our classroom blog. We are really enjoying preschool this year! The children have been working on recognizing colors, shapes, numbers and letters. For the next two weeks, we are learning about community helpers with an emphasis this week on firefighters. This week is fire safety week! Please talk with your children about fire safety and have an evacuation plan in place. Also don't forget about our field trip to Patterson's Pumpkin Patch this Friday. We need the permission slips and money turned in by Wednesday, September 30. Please enjoy our pictures of all of our teachers in the room and we will have classroom pictures next week!
